Who would ever thought that the San Francisco Giants would lose a game like that should go to Las Vegas, and gamble.

Santiago Casilla caught his spike in the dirt in front of the mound for a balk in the bottom of the 10th inning, as the San Diego Padres defeated the Giants 7-6 at Petco Park.

Alex Dickerson and Derek Norris began the bottom of the 10th inning with back-to-back singles off of Casilla. Norris stole second, and then Adam Rosales singled to left field to score Dickerson with the tying run.

Following the Rosales game-tying single, Alexis Ramirez came to the plate and while Casilla attempted to throw a pitch, he stumbled and Norris scored the winning run.

The bizarre victory gave the win to Kevin Quakenbush, who surrendered an opposite field home run to Buster Posey, as he led off the top of the 10th inning. It was the 12th home run of the season for Posey, and his first ever home run in extra innings.

It was would have been a huge comeback victory for the Giants, who on two different occasions came back from three run deficits.

After the Padres took a 3-0 lead against Jeff Samardzija, the Giants got within one run, as Angel Pagan hit a two-run home run off of Luis Perdomo.

The Padres then lengthen the lead up to 5-2, as Ryan Schimpf and Matt Kemp hit home runs and two errors by the Giants.

Mac Williamson and Ramiro Pena each hit home runs to tie up the game in the top of the sixth inning. It was Pena’s first home run of the season, and Williamson’s fourth.

Samardzija went five innings, allowing five runs (four earned), allowing five hits, while walking four and striking out four.
