salon.com: Former Boston Red Sox great Ted Williams was passed up by Red Sox DH David Ortiz last Friday on the all time hits list

On the MLB podcast with Daniel Dullum the Los Angeles Angels saw some strange things on their trip to Boston this weekend. The Bean Town Dudes David Ortiz got in the record books with his 522nd homer and 2000th hit of his career passing up three players including Ted Williams for 19th on the all time hit list. Later in the series on Saturday the Angels CJ Cron went 6-6 with two homers, six RBIs, five runs scored and teammate Carlos Perez went 5-6 with a home run, five RBIs, putting together the largest offensive production from two players since the 1936 Boston Braves did it 80 years ago.

Also the Oakland A’s hosted the mighty Pittsburgh Pirates and were swept by scores of 7-3, 4-2, and 6-3. The A’s who looked like they were going toward the light at the end of the tunnel when they took three out four from the Angels and Giants but quickly lost four straight a streak that started on June 30th.
