On the MLB podcast with Matt Harrington the Boston Red Sox David Ortiz set an milestone with his 522nd career homer and his 2000th career hit in a win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. Pappi has had a great career starting out as a first baseman but has been a long time designated hitter for the Sox.

Another National League pitcher besides the San Francisco Giants Madison Bumgarner is able to swing the bat and that’s the Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez who has four career doubles and knocked in the winning run on Friday night for the go ahead run. Marlins manager Don Mattingly ran out of position players and called on Fernandez to swing the bat and Fernandez didn’t disappoint.
