Things were looking for the San Francisco Giants, as they took an early 4-0 lead in the second game of their three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, then things unraveled in a hurry.
Brandon Moss got the Cardinals on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, then on a 3-0 pitch, Aledmys Diaz tied up the game with a three-run home run, two of four home runs in just two innings and the Cardinals came back to defeat Giants 7-4 at Busch Stadium.
Bay Area native Stephen Piscotty and Matt Adams hit back-to-back home runs to give the Cardinals a 6-4 lead.
It was a tough loss for Jeff Samardzjia, who was cruising along until the four home runs he allowed in the fifth and sixth innings.
Samardzjia went five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, and striking out two and fell to 7-4 on the season.
Joe Panik doubled twice with an RBI, his double play mate, Brandon Crawford doubled and tripled, while Samardzjia hit a run-scoring single
