On the MLB podcast with Morris Phillips Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward was stung ten times in the face and the neck and kept playing on. Heyward reportedly jumped on the outfield wall while swatting the bees and as the trainer and manager Joe Maddon ran to him he waved them off. Later Heyward hit a home run in the game and said to the media that he got no allergic reaction and had no intention of getting out of the ball game.

Former A’s outfielder Nick Swisher was released on Monday by the Atlanta Braves. Swisher even admits that his speed and bat swing are not like they used to be. Swisher still picks up his $15 million contact and may not be finished yet. Catchers in the show have had trouble adapting to the new blocking rule where they can’t block a runners path to the plate and avoid collisions. The concern here with the catchers is if there’s a bang bang play with the game on the line where will they have to position themselves in that situation?
