The Sacramento Kings held the lead in much of the game in Auburn Hills Michigan on Friday night but when the ball got into the hands of the Detroit Pistons Kentavious Caldwell-Pope it was curtains for the visiting Kings as Caldwell-Pope hit two big three pointers in the fourth quarter to make hay on the Kings to get the Pistons ahead and the win 115-108.
Caldwell-Pope had extra help with Marcus Morris scoring 20-24 in the first half for Detroit. The Pistons had an 18 point lead fade away and the Pistons had to get to work and ended up tying up the ball game in the fourth quarter to the relief of Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy, “It was a good win it doesn’t matter how the game goes. In this league a lot of times the team who loses and comes back from like 21 gets praised more than the team who wins. I’ll keep taking 21 point leads. That would be good.” said Van Gundy.
The win breaths some life back into the Pistons post season hopes as the Pistons (35-34) are knotted up with the Chicago Bulls (34-33) for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference The Kings leading scorer on Friday night DeMarcus Cousins had 31 points and 10 rebounds the Kings have now lost 11 of their last 13 games. “Slow start, slow end, we’ve got to put together a whole game of good basketball.” said the Kings Rudy Gay.
The Kings are back in action against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden a 4:30 tip PDT on Sunday night
