Also Cousins kind gesture reaching out to the family of a high school football player Jaulon JJ Clavo who was shot in the back driving to a team meeting. Clavo played for Grant Union High in Sacramento and his teammate was shot but was expected to survive. Cousins who privately offered to pay for the funeral of Clavo was only revealed because a member of the Sacramento City Council mentioned it at the vigil for Clavo.
