ALAMEDA–After taking a tough loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday the Raiders are trying to recover from an offensive 33-13 trouncing and they would have no where else to go after week one but up as they get ready to host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr left after receiving a bruised thumb and was replaced by Matt McGloin.
Carr went seven for 21 for 61 yards before injuring his hand, Carr was three and out for most of the first half before McGloin took over but he did throw a touchdown in garbage time. The Raiders safety Nate Allen was put on the injured reserved list due to a knee injury. An MRI showed that Allen tore his MCL.
Other Raiders out: Charles Woodson was injured on a tackle attempt, Woodson dislocated his shoulder, head coach Jack Del Rio said Woodson will be out “an extended period of time, when you get hurt it’s serious for the guy that’s dealing with it” the Raiders have some players that are banged up right now.
As far as defense is concerned the Raiders Del Rio will have to make sure that the middle field doesn’t get wide open like it was against Cincinnati. The Raiders coverage against the Ravens tight ends will be challenged. The Ravens played a close game against Denver last Sunday in a 19-13 close match.
In that game there was not even an offensive touchdown, so the task the Raiders would have to consider is trying to study film and see where their at in trying to defend the Ravens on Sunday. The Ravens have Joe Flacco at quarterback he went 18-32 for 117 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
You would think that after the kind of game the Ravens had an offense getting held to no touchdowns and winning. That’s something the Raiders could come up with a defense for the Ravens who can be stopped and the games were on the road for them in Denver. The Ravens came in trying to put up some points and they definitely have an offense that can do that so it’ll be interesting to see what the Raiders can come up with on Sunday.
