San Francisco Giants podcast with Jeremy Kahn: Peavy rehabbing back and Ishikawa anxious to get off DL

by Jeremy Kahn

SAN FRANCISCO–Matt Cain is out on the disabled list after feeling some discomfort in his throwing arm after throwing in the exhibition game against the Oakland A’s. Now Jack Peavy missed his turned on Tuesday night and with Cain out these two being out things could get rough for Giants pitching in the next two weeks.

Ryan Voglesong Giants pitcher was lifted with the Diamondbacks in the lead 7-4 on Tuesday night as Vogelsong couldn’t hold the lead and it could led to more trouble for the Giants pitching staff. Things could get rough until Cain and Peavy can get back. Vogelsong who was lifted for a reliever and he struggled in the game on Tuesday against Arizona and we’ll have to see what happens with the pitching in the next couple of weeks. Vogelsong more than likely will be put back into the bullpen when Peavy and Cain get back to health.

They play some 30 spring training games plus 162 regular season games that’s 192 ball games right there not even counting post season. If you go all the way to the World Series like the Giants did last year your talking about 200 ball games. That’s a lot of games there’s guys whose not going to play everyday. The issue is that spring training is just too long the regular season is 162 games.

You look at guys like Buster Posey, Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, Hunter Pence, and Gregor Blanco their out there basically some 200 games. Granted their not going to play that much in pre season but with the exhibition games that’s a lot of games already.
