Golden State Warriors podcast with David Zizmor: While W’s lost Warriors don’t have a lot to play for while San Antonio does for post season

OAKLAND–Everybody quotes that the Golden State Warriors haven’t won in San Antonio since the 90s they did win a playoff game just a couple of seasons ago. It’s not quite as long as it seems that 102-97 loss to the Spurs on Sunday was disappointing but we have to keep a couple of things in mind, one that Warriors are on the second game of a back to back schedule that’s always tough, number two San Antonio is just a tough place to win in general.

The third point also is the Warriors have nothing to play for at this point and the Spurs have a lot to play for, the Warriors have locked up hone court advantage throughout the playoffs they have that number one seed they’re playing for. They could try for a potential MVP award for Steph Curry or a potential defensive MVP for Draymond Green.

In terms of the team there’s not a whole lot the Warriors are working on right now their just trying to make sure their trying to stay in tune as they head into the playoffs. The Spurs they have a lot going on their sitting in the sixth seed but they can move up to the sixth seed their only half a game behind the Clippers right now.

The Spurs have a lot going for them they’ve been playing incredibly well aside from the Warriors you would say that the Spurs are the hottest team in the NBA and they’ve been playing incredibly well. While it stinks that the Warriors lost they had that 11 game winning streak that was great it was their first loss in quite some time.

The fact of the matter is the Warriors played on back to back nights against a team that has a lot more incentives to play hard and to play strong than the Warriors did if these two teams face each other in the playoffs it’s going to be a different ball game. Simple as that the Warriors will have home court and the big guns are out everybody is out for the full 48 minutes.

You won’t be getting Curry for less than 48 minutes like in San Antonio. There were certain points that Curry said about resting key players before the playoffs “you know what the Spurs have our number tonight were not going to risk anything were going to put in some of our reserves up and make sure were set to play in New Orleans on Tuesday.”
