SAN FRANCISCO –

The Giants defeated the A’s 4-0 in front of 42,972 fans at AT&T Park. The Giants got some sweet revenge against the A’s in the second game of the three game Bay Bridge series between the two teams and opened the scoring in the first inning following some sloppy play by the A’s infield. Eric Sogard struggled with a couple of hard hit groundballs.   Then Buster Posey drove the ball straight away center over the wall at the 399 foot sign for a 3-run blast off  A’s starter Kendall Graveman. Leading the Giants to a 3-0 win over the A’s to even up the series.

Matt Cain started for the Giants and pitched four innings giving up three hits walking two and striking out three.

A’s starter Kendall Graveman made his sixth start of the spring and up to this game he had not allowed in four of his five starts including his last three. But the deep drive by Posey changed that with his homer, which was the first homer that Graveman allowed this spring.

Graveman pitched four innings giving up three runs on two hits walking three and striking out six.

The A’s line-up ha several hard hit the balls but could not get anything going against the Giants who played well in this one defensively.

Sergio Garcia finished the game by retiring the side in the ninth to complete the shutout.

With the win the Giants improved their spring record 12-21-1 this spring.
