That’s Amaury’s Podcast, News and Commentary: After a successful spring A’s are baseball’s most interesting team

OAKLAND–With four spring training games left the Oakland A’s have the best record in spring training and came away from Arizona as baseball’s most interesting team and they very well surprised a lot of people with what they done with so “very little” after dealing many of their top players in the off season.

The A’s had a really good spring, the pitching is looking very well although pitcher and long time veteran Barry Zito won’t make the team. As of now manager Bob Melvin is going to put Ike Davis at first base and Mark Canha who is a rookie who is from San Jose will back up at first. Ben Zobrist will be at second.

The A’s are also looking at placing Marcus Semien at shortstop he’s a product of Cal and a native San Franciscan, at third base Brett Lawrie has that position sewed up. Stephen Vogt will start at catcher with Josh Phegley slated to back up. The news is that Coco Crisp will probably not be in the opening day line up.

The A’s open the season against the Texas Rangers at the Coliseum next Monday night which is expected to be a sellout and there are tickets available for opening night still available. Also outfielder Josh Reddick wont be playing rightfield he’s suffering from a right oblique muscle pull. Melvin is going to have to be very creative with the outfielders he has two regular outfielders who are out. Crisp doesn’t look like he’s going to be ready by opening night.

Reddick will be out but as far as the pitching is concerned the A’s are looking at a rotation of four to five guys Sonny Gray, Scott Kazmir, Jessie Hahn, Drew Pomeranz, and Kendall Graveman. Hahn was traded to Oakland for Derek Norris so Hahn was a rookie and he pitched a little bit last year he was 7-4 with the Padres.

Hahn is a young pitcher and he’s going to be pitching at number two in that rotation and Graveman is another guy who came from Toronto in the Brett Lawrie trade and you have Pomeranz who had a terrific spring. I got to see him pitch in two games and he’s doing really well. Then there’s pitcher Jesse Chavez whose pitching today before the A’s leave for the Bay Area from Arizona.
