World Series 2014 commentary: Game six on deck Giants want to wrap it up and Royals need a game seven

KANSAS CITY–Four of the five games have been decided by five runs or more and how many times has that happened? Right now for San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy it’s all hands on deck the Giants want to prevent going to a seventh game of the World Series as game six is in Kansas City. To me it’s do or die in game six and you don’t want to let the crowd into a game seven.

While none of these 2014 Giant players were around during the 2002 World Series as Giant coaches Dave Righetti anb Ron Wotus remember that game six the Giants were just six outs away from winning the series and the Angels Scott Speizio hit the game winning homer to take the game to game seven which the Angels went onto win and in that instance stuff happens.

It’s hard to tell whats going to happen the Giants have had 28 hits in the last two games that leads you to believe they are confident hitters and it also leads you to believe the scouting reports about the Giants hitting more as is expected in game six. Significant things happened in game five, they scored off the backend of Kansas City’s bullpen in the eighth inning for three runs.

The Giants scored off of Royals relievers Kevin Herera and Wade Davis, they hit a ball off Davis so hard that it went over Royals rightfielder Lorenzo Cain’s head which I thought was a violation of the law of physics. You get to a situaton where it becomes a phycological match up to get into the late part of a seven game series.

You have to like the phycology that’s going to be in the Giants favor in a game seven, everything is off the table, game seven is a complete utter crap shoot. The crowd becomes way more important, the Giants going to game six have to put up a run or two in the first two or three innings that it takes the crowd out of the game. If you remember the KC crowd are very loud and very enthusiastic also they have 29 years experience with failure.

Their going to be expecting the worst, their going to be trying to come back in this series the Royals have not trailed in the post season at all and have not faced an elimination game. The Royals have not faced a elimination game all year. This is the first time you can expect that true possibility of the Giants of actually putting the Royals backs to the wall at Kaufman Stadium and if you take them out of it early the Giants could take some pressure off themselves.

Outstanding is the word I can use in talking about Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford’s World Series. What you want from a shortstop is that great glove. Crawford has provided that and anything that he can do with a bat is a bonus, he’s hitting in the eighth hole and that’s what you expect for production. He’s had mulitple RBIs in multiple games, He’s the first shortstop in Giants history to drive in three runs in a World Series game.

The Giants and Royals completed batting practice on Monday and are all set for Tuesday night at 5:07 PM PDT for the first pitch of game six at Kansas City’s Kaufman Staidum.
