SANTA CLARA–It’s tough to characterize a loss when you lose 42-17 which is not good, it was one of those situations in Denver last Sunday where the 49ers were kind of in it in the first half and then some bad things snowballed and got out of control and then the game slipped away. The Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was gunning for that down pass record which he got.
There was a lot of energy in the stadium and on the Broncos because of that, the 49ers on the flipside they’ve suffered a lot injuries on the other side of the ball to the point where very few guys starting on defense last year which is crazy. The number of guys that were out on the defensive side of the ball was ridiculous.
Patrick Willis being the key player among them, that makes it really difficult when your going against an offense that’s potent as Denver is. The biggest problem for the 49ers was that the defense couldn’t stop anyone. The offense didn’t execute very well either. Kaepernick looked pretty good in this game and Vernon Davis continues to have an off year.
Davis dropped a lot of passes that he should have cuaght, wide receiver Anquan Boldin dropped a pass and it would have been a touchdown had he caught it and it changed the complexion of the game. The fact that 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was having trouble completing passes. He was making good throws which was making it more difficult to win.
The fact that the 49ers defense couldn’t stop anybody was just a lost cause and remnember this is a team that was coming off a road game in St.Louis and then having to play on a Monday Night and going into Denver Sunday night and the 49ers had a very short week that makes it even more difficult. It was a rough week as the 49ers get healthier and they used this bye to get some of their guys back that will help out.
Police investigating McDonald case got free tickets from 49ers: San Jose Police were accepting free tickets from the 49ers had to pay the 49ers back for the tickets because of the impression that it gave during the lineman Ray McDonald investigation case. The police reimbursed the 49ers on behalf of Assitant Chief Eddie Garcia and Deputy Chief Jeff Marozick.
Garcia and Marozick violated the department’s policy against accepting tickets to profession sporting events. The department is investigating a domestic violence call from McDonald’s home on August 31st. McDonald’s girlfriend reportedly had bruises on her neck at the time in question. Police have not finished their investigation into the case and McDonald is still acitve on the 49ers.
