VANCOUVER-In a preseason exhibition against the Vancouver Canucks, the San Jose Sharks left Canada with a 3-2 victory on Monday night at Rogers Arena. Tommy Wingels was the deciding factor in the game as he put the Sharks ahead for good on a power play goal with less than four minutes remaining in the game.
San Jose was the first to score in the contest after a goal from Joe Pavelski midway through the first period. Vancouver tied the contest up shortly after with a goal from Brendan Gaunce. The score remained 1-1 until late in the second period. John McCarthy regained the lead for San Jose with a one-timer.
The Canucks tied the game up once again early in the third and final period. Rookie Hunter Shinkaruk hit the top shelf of the net to bring it to a tie once again, this time making it 2-2. Wingels knocked in the game winner late in the period to give San Jose the victory.
